Is it not possible (maybe even probable) that Killian decided, at some later point in time, that his scraps of handwritten 1972-73 memos to his personal file on Lt George W. Bush should be transcribed into a more readable, professional-like format and preserved for history?
Yep, and you can make shotgun shells in the middle ages right after you finish building a steam engine to mop up the living dead.
But it gets better,
Yeah, but! The memos tell the truth whether they are fakes are not, do they not? Yes, they do.

Yes, Alma. I’m sure they do. Here’s your sign.
But Allah has more damning evidence (thanks once again to some enterprising freepers) that CBS had the two extra memos that USA Today published when they aired the 60 Minutes program. They witheld them for SOME reason. Wonder what it could be?
Back during the Dean campaign, I was always jealous of the hordes of techies and programmers that would come up with cool little tools to help out Patient Howard. Well, I’m jealous no more! If you run WordPress or Movable Type – you can get a new-fangled text-filter called I’dRatherNot, superscripting all your text in the finest Rathergate tradition. You can get it here.
[UPDATE] Correction: the WordPress filter is here (and requires the plug-in suite linked above)
The MovableType plug in is here.
Jeff Quinton has been watching FoxNews – and CBS will apparently release a statement at noon. How long can Rather possibly stay?
When the Dallas News interviewed Killian’s secretary, she said that she didn’t have an IBM Selectric, she had an Olympia typewriter – another enterprising blogger found one and tried to re-create the CBS memos. Where else could this happen but the blogosphere.
Once again, Ace reminds us that he’s identified at least one of Rather’s sources – and the reason Rather’s not speaking is that the guy is a Bush-hating moonbat.
Emily Will, a veteran document examiner from North Carolina, told ABC News she saw problems right away with the one document CBS hired her to check the weekend before the broadcast.
A second document examiner hired by CBS News, Linda James of Plano, Texas, also told ABC News she had concerns about the documents and could not authenticate them. She said she expressed her concerns to CBS before the 60 Minutes II broadcast.
“I did not authenticate anything and I don’t want it to be misunderstood that I did,” James said. “And that’s why I have come forth to talk about it because I don’t want anybody to think I did authenticate these documents.”
A third examiner hired by CBS for its story, Marcel Matley, appeared on CBS Evening News last Friday and was described as saying the document was real.
According to The Washington Post, Matley said he examined only the signature attributed to Killian and made no attempt to authenticate the documents themselves.
The single most articulate post I’ve seen on why Rather needs to be fired – and now. Doesn’t hurt that it’s written by an attorney that once defended CBS in a libel suit.
Bill says it’s time. We agree. In fact, we’ve been sending personalized faxes to CBS affiliates around the country on behalf of outraged Americans since RatherGate.com launched on Monday. By Wednesday morning, we’ll have sent more than 4,000 of them. We will continue to offer this service as long as people are interested.
So – to make it even easier for you to contact CBS affiliates, RatherGate.com presents a master list of CBS affiliates, including:
- Station Name
- Postal Address
- Phone *and* Fax numbers
- Rank in Market Share
Be polite, be brief, but be clear: Dan Rather must resign or be fired, and CBS must apologize to the American People.

If I said that Allah was on fire, would that get me in trouble? Cause he is. He points to LA Times’ swift kick to the head of CBS. “CBS News has been had. It’s hard to reach any other conclusion about newly discovered documents that CBS and anchor Dan Rather are defending as revealing the truth about George W. Bush’s military service.”
Now, that might be big news – if you even managed to get that far on Allah’s site before you choke on this one:
Allah’s got a little mini-scoop for you courtesy of a friend who works in the newspaper biz. According to my source, CBS will be putting out a press release tomorrow reiterating that it stands by its story. Yes, you read that correctly. As of fifteen minutes ago, that’s the plan.
When do we all wake up from this bad dream?
