The media concoction of a country which loves Dems and hates the GOP is a lie. The Republican Party has a pulse, and the real question should be: Can the Democratic Party win elections with Obama on the ticket?
The WashPost put the story on page A4. It was on A19 in the New York Times:
Many of the Democrats who turned out last month in enthusiastic support of Barack Obama apparently did not show up at the polls on Tuesday.
“For a lot of African-American voters, the real election was last month,” said Merle Black, an expert in Southern politics at Emory University. “The importance of electing the first African-American president in history generated enormous enthusiasm. Everything else was anticlimactic.”
The paper meant to stress that Chambliss won only because the Dems didn’t bother voting, but the real story might be that the Democrats lose luster without the historic novelty of Obama on the ticket.
