Said Barack Obama:
If somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can. It’s just that it will bankrupt them, because they’re going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted,” he said. In the same interview, the senator said that “if technology allows us to use coal in a clean way, we should pursue it.”
Barry’s going to kill the coal industry by bankrupting it. Okay. Barry spoke those words to the San Francisco Chronicle last January 17, but it never printed the offending lines or pointing them out. They were buried by the paper until Drudge found them over the weekend.
Sarah Palin observed on Sunday:
“Barack Obama explained his plan to The San Francisco Chronicle this year,” she said. “And he said that, sure, if the industry wants to build coal-fired power plants, then they can go ahead and try, he says. But they can do it only in a way that will bankrupt the coal industry.
“You gotta listen to the tape,” she continued. “Why is this audio tape just now surfacing?”
Because it runs counter to the paper’s purposes. They say that they put all the audio from the interview on the web and the McCain campaign could have found the offending comment themselves, but if McCain or Palin had made that statement, it would have been a banner story instantly.
Was the nefarious on the Chronicle’s part? Probably not intentionally, but it seems that they don’t want to scrutinize their candidates, only the opposition.
