The battle to succeed Tim Russert: Matthews vs. Olbermann
According to the New York Post’s gossipey “Page 6,” MSNBC divas Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann are duking it out for the right to take Russert’s spot on NBC’s Meet the Press.
Matthews was heard loudly discussing what seemed to be his strategy for landing Russert’s “Meet the Press” show at Wednesday’s memorial reception for the NBC Washington bureau chief at the Kennedy Center in DC.
Matthews denies this, asserting that he was arguing with a real estate developer over a speech he is to give.
And:
Meanwhile, Matthews’ MSNBC cable cohort Olbermann, who was also at the memorial, is “threatening to quit if he isn’t installed as Russert’s replacement,” another insider said. “I know, it sounds ludicrous, but, then, Keith Olbermann is ludicrous.”
Perhaps some “insider” just doesn’t like Keefums. It’s understandable.
Either way, Brian Williams will host this Sunday.
