Try this one from McClatchy: Is ’success’ of U.S. surge in Iraq about to unravel?

Okay, they have to use the marks around “success,” but they still forecast its failure based on “a militia loyal to radical Shiite Muslim cleric Muqtada al Sadr.” THey’re shutting down neighborhood, Iraq’s Saddamist stringers evidently report, and our Pentagon, their Saddamist U.S. reporters tell them, are “watching for any signs of backsliding.”

The article is a bit of pathetic, journalistic defeatism with no merit as reporting, let alone as conversation starter. It can be described only as an object of derision.

Leila Fadel and Nancy A. Youssef wrote the anti-U.S., insurgent-encouraging dross for McClatchy, which has lost 80% of its stock value of late.
