Conrad Black, newspaperman, to spend a lot of time in prison
Candadian newspaper publisher Conrad Black is going to spend plenty of time in prison, after having been found guilty of one count of obstructing justice and three counts of fraud.
A U.S. judge on Monday told former media mogul Conrad Black he could face a sentence of 78 months to 97 months in prison for obstructing justice and defrauding shareholders of one-time newspaper publishing giant Hollinger International Inc.
The judge said the 78 to 97 months - or 6.5 years to roughly 8 years - was the range of prison time he faced under guidelines when sentence is imposed later on Monday. His sentencing hearing is ongoing in federal court.
At one point, Black owned over 400 newspapers in the United States.
