I thought you’d find this important. According to an “Entertainment” story from United Press international CBS infotainment anchor Katie Couric is headed to Iraq and Syria for a week and a half.

The network said it plans to devote substantial air time to her coverage, with 16 stories filed by Couric and chief foreign correspondent Lara Logan scheduled to run over four days, the Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday. Couric, in her first trip to either country, will anchor the “CBS Evening News” broadcasts live from Baghdad for two nights and from Damascus another two nights.

She’s going to be in the region for ten days, and Variety.com tell us that she will spend “several days spent reporting in the field,” so perhaps spend her remaining six days “in the region” reporting with from Okinawa with Jack Murtha.

So tune in beginning Thursday night to see what Katie’s wearing in the Middle East!
