Dan Rather, inventor of news, has a new job offer: doing news for Dallas Maverick’s owner Mark Cuban’s HDNet, Cuban’s high def TV channel. He said he’ll do an hour newscast and documentaries, all sorts of good stuff.

Although he was offered lots and lots of jobs, the 74-year-old disgraced former CBS anchor told the New York Times — including ABC and NBC, and CNN and Fox News – Dan says he’s going with the Mark Cuban gig. He won’t get as much exposure for his work, which is a safety thing.

He said that CBS actually did offer to keep him on, but only with an office, an assistant, and no connection to CBS News.

For those of use who followed the Rathergate scandal, finally a stunning admission from Dan Rather: “There’s a lot I have yet to figure out.”

(Thanks, George, for the tip.)
