The Times and the Iraqi turnout
Noel Shepherd at the MRC’s NewsBusters caught the New York Times making stuff up then changing its mind when contradicted by the evidence.
Reporters Dexter Filkins and John F. Burn reported that turnout was low for the Iraqi vote yesterday: “‘I sense that the turnout will be lower this time,’ said Zainab Kudir, the chief poll worker at the Marjayoun Primary School.”
A little later, after other media outlets reported that turnout was huge, these same clowns reported: “Officials at Iraq’s election commission said that the early count pointed to a turnout as high as 65 per cent of the country’s 15.5 million voters, a showing that would exceed the 58 per cent turnout in the January election.”
Omar Fadhli at the Iraqi blog Iraq the Model had reported this all along, directly from the scene.
I’m going to add Iraq the Model to the blogroll.
