Gustav owns the news. The Republican National Convention will gavel in tomorrow but will conduct only brief, official business.
Bobby Jindal has been a star, quite a long break from the Kathy Blanco we saw three years ago. I just flipped through the news networks and noticed the kid on CNN talking to Bob Barr. The CNN kid said something like, “Boy, so the Republicans are stuck with Sarah Palin, and do you think they’re just kicking themselves now, thinking: we could have had Bobby Jindal?”
Here is what this CNN guy does not understand. Bobby Jindal took himself out of consideration before he could be asked, and he was very firm about it. He has things he wants to do in Louisiana. Once he becomes nationally known, his star will shine brightly. He is the IQ-star of U.S. governors, one of the smartest ever, and he is efficient and personable.
Being stuck with Palin isn’t so bad. The Dems were ballistic on the morning shows this morning, with John Kerry stating directly that she is the “new Dick Cheney.” Several times. (He also said that John McCain was not a maverick, but a radical. I’d never seen the man so upset.)
